Art Car: Digital Meets Truck Art

(2010 – 2013)

In 2010, with collaboration with my friend/former student/artist Eric Hester, I converted my Honda Civic hatchback into an art car, which was exhibited at (and performed in) four Houston Art Car Parades.

Eric installed nine digital screens onto the rear of the car as well as a microphone for performances, and I traveled to Karachi to purchase and commission truck art to decorate the car.

In our second Art Car Parade performance in which many artists participated, we were awarded the Freedom of Speech Award.

Voices Breaking Boundaries’ original office was in [Sarwar’s]  kitchen, but later she set up shop in a tiny donated space. If she stood up, she knocked her head. But she didn’t spend much time in the office anyway. Wherever she went, she found a community partners. “Crossing borders with art.”
