2007 – 2012

The Second Floor (T2F Karachi)

The Second Floor (or T2F as the space is known) was founded in 2007 by activist Sabeen Mahmud (1974-2015), who had long been a family friend. During T2F’s first year as a public space, I offered a reading in the café from my then-new novel Black Wings.

Over the years, I have participated in many readings and panel discussions at T2F, a space that remains vibrant despite Sabeen’s brutal murder.

The complex weave of Sehba Sarwar’s essays, poems, novel, interviews, and the installations, performances that she has created illustrates––like nothing else could––her experience of life as a world-resident, its challenges and sorrows, joys, its ongoing enlightenment.
