it seems as if every few days when i think about posting on my blog, something new is happening in karachi. i wish i could say that the news was good but it’s not. this past weekend, more than 200 people were killed after a thunderstorm that took the city by surprise. i’ve experienced many floods in karachi at different points in my life. but in 2007, to have so many lives lost because of basic incompetencies is just horrific. and the bad news is that the standard of living gets worse, not better.

next week this time we will be on the airplane for the long trip back and we will land in a city that’s torn by floods, electric outages, water shortages, intense heat, and much more. ironically, this is still the place where i still find the most rest.
